Risk Assessment Process
Risk Assessment Process
IMIU where possible carries out mine inspections of insured sites it underwrites. These inspections are planned well in advance by our Manager, Operations & Engineering. Ahead of any survey visit, Mine operations are asked both to compile relevant information (see our PREPARATION FOR AN IMIU RISK SURVEY) needed by our engineers and also have designated staff onsite during visit .
Sites will be attended by one of our specialist engineers. The duration of a site visit will naturally vary according to the size and complexity of the site, and the range of insurance cover required. However, the average is usually between 2-3 days but may be 5 days.
The risks are assessed by a site survey, followed by analysis using IMIU’s MinRAM (Mining Risk Assessment Model). Click here for more information on MINRAM. The MinRAM is our key tool for mining risk analysis. Our engineers report the results of their assessments in a formal report submitted to the brokers and our clients.
