Leon joined IMIU as a Principal Risk Consultant in April 2024.  He has spent over 38 years working in the engineering field.

Based in South Africa, Leon began his career as an underground electrician at Coalbrook Colliery.  After ten years he left his position as General Engineering Supervisor Services at Amcoal Ltd, Standerton, to join Alexander Forbes Risk Services in South Africa.  For the next eleven years Leon undertook insurance risk assessments across mine sites on behalf of Alexander Forbes in South Africa.  Audits assisted clients in determining engineering risk exposures, implications on assets and safety, plus the implementation of recommendations to reduce those risks.

Following a yearning to get back to electrical engineering projects, Leon returned as Lead Electrical Engineer with responsibility for a platinum mine shaft project.  After that, Leon spent a number of years on electrical engineering projects across South Africa, Zambia and, most recently, Brazil.

In his spare time, Leon enjoys watching rugby, good food, and spending time with his wife and grandchildren.
