IMIU underwrite Property and Business Interruption risks and Construction projects of mining companies situated throughout the world and our portfolio spans North and South America, Europe, Africa, Australasia, and Asia. We are a recognised market leader in insuring operations across the full spectrum of commodities and all types of mining including underground exposures.
We understand that every risk is unique and endeavour to provide risk solutions that respect the actual risks presented by each individual operation. In order to fully appreciate the risk exposures and the technical merits of each risk underwritten IMIU employ a team of full time engineers with considerable mining industry experience who visit almost every single insured mining operation on a regular basis. The skills and services offered by IMIU’s engineering team are second to none within the insurance industry and their risk improvement advice is highly sought after by our clients.
In 2011 IMIU commenced underwriting mining construction projects to complement our existing operational portfolio. The benefits of this to our clients are many-fold but first and foremost among these is the opportunity for our risk engineers to provide advice to our clients during the design and construction phase of a new mining operation to ensure that the appropriate risk management aspects are incorporated at an early stage and thus enabling savings at a later stage of operations. This has proven to be a successful initiative for many of our clients who would otherwise have had to incur additional time and expense to retro-fit risk improvement initiatives post-construction. As a result of our unique business model, IMIU are able to tailor insurance coverages to ensure that there is no gap in coverage between construction and operational insurance policies which may otherwise be the case, i.e. we can offer seamless cover.
Within the EU, IMIU can write business on a freedom of service basis. Underwriting as Inter Hannover we also hold a variety of licences outside the EU and write business through the branch offices in Australia, Canada, Sweden, and the UK.
