Rob joined IMIU as a Principal Risk Engineer in April 2023.  He has spent over 25 years working in surface coal and underground coal with a significant proportion of that time in senior leadership roles including processing manager and assistant general manager.  He has spent time in government in Queensland as an Inspector of Mines and in New South Wales as a State Inspector of Engineering and Infrastructure. 

In a career break from mining Rob spent nearly eight years with SunWater Ltd, a Queensland Government owned corporation where he started as a Senior Engineer and achieved promotion to Operations Manager, Industrial Pipelines and then General Manager Operations with responsibility for around two thirds of the SunWater business.

He has a keen interest in asset whole of life management, asset performance, asset risk and efficiency, asset monitoring, control and management, automation and development of the engineering function within an organisation. 

In Rob’s spare time he keeps busy amusing a west highland terrier, restoring a colonial house, riding his Africa Twin motorcycle and restoring old furniture.
